The Cobalt Mining Museum collects, preserves, researches, exhibits and interprets artifacts and specimens pertinent to hardrock mining in Canada, with particular reference to silver mining and the development of the Historic Cobalt Mining Camp.

Also collected are related artifacts that serve to illustrate the founding, settlement and development of the Town of Cobalt, the Township of Coleman and the surrounding area from the arrival of the railway in 1903 to the present.

The Cobalt Mining Museum operates as a committee of the Historic Cobalt Corporation, and strives to work in close cooperation with the local community including the Town of Cobalt, the Township of Coleman and the Cobalt Historical Society.
