Local Musicians Rock out for Vicky Pineau
When others are facing challenges, the people around them often want to help, but don’t know how. Such an opportunity is coming up to support Temiskaming Shores woman Vicky Presseault Pineau as she prepares for a second double-lung transplant and for the long recovery afterwards.
Vicky Presseault Pineau is a 37 year old parent of 3 boys Bailey 19, Liam 9 and Jack 6. She suffers from the auto-immune disease rheumatoid arthritis that has evolved into a more urgent Interstitial Pulmonary Fibrosis. Her family has made the expensive relocation to Toronto to be nearer to medical care, having to give up much-needed income in the process. At the time of writing this release, Vicky’s gofundme campaign had reached just over $29,000 of its $50,000 goal.
The event will take place on June 1 starting at 8pm at the King George Tavern in New Liskeard. For $10, all of which will go to Vicky, community members can see two local bands play: Running Late, made up of Nathaniel Preston, Dominic Lafontaine and Eric Hutnick-Whitehead. Running Late is a hard-hitting three piece party anthem rock band covering many songs from the 60’s through 2000’s with a few originals thrown into the mix. Headspace, with Jeff Lundmark, Julie Preston and Amanda Mongeon, and guests Drew Gauley and Glenna Gaudette, will play two sets of rock classics from the 70s, 80s and 90s.
In addition to a great night out with local bands, dancing and time with friends, the evening will include opportunities to learn about organ donation and participate in additional fundraisers all to benefit Vicky.
“Living in Toronto isn’t cheap. Vicky and her husband Kenny have enough on their minds without the worry of bills. The very least that we can do is bring people together with some great rock n’ roll, shine some new light on Vicky’s situation, and at the same time bring in some money to send to Vicky and her family.” says Eric Hutnick-Whitehead, event organizer. “Small communities like ours need to work together and look out for each other.”
People wanting to learn more about Vicky’s story or to make a donation can visit the gofundme site set up for her. Anyone not already registered an organ donor is urged to register at beadonor.ca and communicate their wishes to family and friends. Cards or letters of encouragement dropped off on June 1 during the event will also be passed on to Vicky and her family.
